Wonder what our favourite action-RPG looked like during its infancy in Miyamoto’s notebooks? Well Nintendo has given us a good look, courtesy of president Satoru Iwata.
The historic sketches below include a world map, some pixel sketches and even a design outline. Amazingly, Iwata tells us that Miyamoto and Tezuka – the original LoZ designers – drew this all in one sitting.

On the European launch day of sci-fi epic Mass Effect 2, EA has announced that the title has sold two million copies within five days on US shelves.
This isn’t particularly surprising, seeing as though the game became a global trending topic on Twitter on US launch day, but it sure makes you wonder how much this golden figure will increase now the game is globally available.

Rockstar Games hasn’t shown a whole lotta love to the PS3 since the launch of GTA IV, depriving the platform of two very worthy DLC packs; The Lost And The Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
But Rockstar has decided to treat loyal PS3 and PC gamers with both expansions this March. The two episodes will be rolling out on PSN and Games for Windows LIVE on 30 March and should be hitting store shelves around the same time – no info on price yet though, though if the Xbox 360 version is anything to go by, it will be the £19.99/$30 mark for both combined.

Capcom has just launched the official website for upcoming third-person shooter title Lost Planet 2.
The website is pretty bare at the moment, simply reeling off trailers for the game and offers little information about the game.
The game is being developed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and is set to appear in stores on 18 May, 2010 in North America and Europe and 20 May, 2010 for Japan.
Kotaku’s Brian Crecente has written a great first look on PS3′s massively first-person shooter - the game that has created plenty of buzz over the past few months. He makes some interesting points.

MMO city builder game Cities XL attracted much fanfare prior to launch, but a raft of technical issues encountered with online play caused many to abandon the game and not wanting to pay the steep monthly fee.
This has clearly become a major problem for developer Monte Cristo’s bottom line, as the “Planet Offer” – the core MMO functionality of the game – is due to be completely stripped out by 8 March 2010.
With all the talk going on around Bioware’s upcoming MMO epic Star Wars The Old Republic, no-one can be blamed for forgetting about its older sibling, Star Wars Galaxies.
Sony Online Entertainment have decided to up the ante and release new gameplay features and offer free activation to estranged players.

Only one day before launch, the official soundtrack of Square-Enix’s upcoming epic – Final Fantasy XIII – has appeared on a number of fan forums.
The soundtrack was announced back in 2009 and includes four CDs packed full of tracks from Square-Enix’s recently-departed composer, Masashi Hamauzu.

Today we received what is arguably one of the most entertaining press releases we’ve received since we started this blog, in the form of the announcement of Dead or Alive: Paradise. *
Tecmo announced last night that Dead or Alive will be hitting the PSP with the vague launch date of “this Spring” and (directly from the press release) will feature all the Dead or Alive ‘lovelies.’
